My sister got engaged and we wanted to celebrate with a wine tasting in Tuscany. We loved it! We always wanted to try the authentic Chianti wine as we love red wines. The wine tastings were super fun and interesting, and in between the wine tour, Tuscany was breathtaking. Our tour guide Fabio was very funny and told us many interesting facts about wine. I had no idea that Chianti Classico is in a way tailormade to go perfectly with tomatoes and a day-old bread. Just couldn't wait to come back home and prepare my first Pappa al pomodoro - and I have to say it, he was right!
I was in Italy last year but did not manage to squeeze in any wine tours from Florence. This year, thankfully, I made a detour to experience a famous winery authentically. The guide was very knowledgeable and interesting to listen to. Favorite thing about this tour is that we visited 2 separate wine tastings. I had the time to reflect and savor each one, which really suited me. I would recommend this tour to anyone who is a fan of high-quality wines!

Wine has been a tradition in Tuscany even before the Roman Empire
Tuscany has a wine production and consumption tradition that predates the Roman Empire. In this region wine was being produced even 3,000 years ago! Etruscans arrived in the 8th century BC, brought vines from Asia, and made grape cultivation a cornerstone of their agriculture. Etruscan merchants even traded their wines with other markets at the time. the Etruscans even influenced the name "Tuscany"! Namely, it is derived from the Etruscans, known as "Tusci". Even after the Romans absorbed them into the Roman Empire, the region remained associated with their name, so "Tuscany" persisted.
