An unforgettable Tuscan journey

Our guide, Luca, was so warm and knowledgeable! He patiently answered all of our questions and made sure all of the guests were having a good time. The stories he told us brought the history of Siena and Pisa to life. San Gimignano was an equally charming city. However, the highlight of the tour was the homemade lunch at a traditional wine estate in the Chianti region. Trying local wines while looking at the rolling vineyards felt like a true Tuscan dream.

This tour was the right choice!

I’ve always been a fan of Italian culture and cuisine, so this Tuscany food tour was something I’d been looking forward to for a long time. We skipped the lines in front of Siena Cathedral, which were huge! Our guide just walked past them, and we all followed him. For me, the highlight of this tour was the Chianti wine - it was so delicious, I can't even explain it... I bought two bottles of it to enjoy at home with my wife! We also had the chance to taste some of the local olive oil, and it was the best I’ve ever tried, rich and full of flavor. Now, I want to go back!

Tuscany Food Tour

EXPLORE THE TUSCANY REGION: SIENA, CHIANTI HILLS, SAN GIMIGNANO, PISA

Take a full-day guided tour of Tuscany and combine wine, food, architecture, and beautiful landscapes. Begin your adventure from Florence Central Train Station, where you will be met by a guide and travel to the medieval city of Siena. From its stunning terracotta roofs and magnificent Gothic architecture to the Piazza del Campo (site of the 600-year-old Palio horse race), Siena has much to offer. After lunch at a family winery, you'll explore the hilltop town of San Gimignano, a UNESCO World Heritage site known for its medieval towers and squares. Then you go to your final stop - Pisa, famous for much more than just its iconic Leaning Tower. On The Piazza dei Miracoli, where the tower is located, you will see Pisa Cathedral and Baptistery. Both of these sites are examples of Romanesque architecture. The cathedral is decorated with mosaics and sculptures, while the Baptistery is known for its unique acoustics and beautiful platform design by Niccolò Pisano. In the end, you return to Florence with a full stomach and even fuller impressions of the beautiful cities you had the opportunity to visit.

VISIT THE BEST-KNOWN ITALIAN WINE DISTRICT

After visiting Siena, you’ll head to the renowned Chianti wine region, famous for its rich wine culture and local food. Here, you’ll enjoy a delightful lunch, such as homemade pasta, prosciutto, salami, local cheese and Tuscan biscotti paired with wine tasting. As you taste our famous regional wines like Chianti, Vernaccia and Tuscan dessert wine, Vin Santo, you’ll learn how they were made. Don’t miss the chance to taste exceptional local olive oil, which perfectly complements the flavors of your meal. Surrounded by beautiful scenery under the Tuscan sun, you’ll understand why this region is celebrated for food and wine. Interesting facts about Tuscany food and cuisine

Here are a few interesting facts you might not know about the Tuscan food specialties.

PANE TOSCANO

Traditional Tuscan bread is baked without salt and is famous in this region. This tradition dates back to a time when high taxes on salt forced the local population to bake bread without it. Today, this mild-tasting bread is often served with sauces.

OLIVE OIL

Tuscany is famous for its extra virgin olive oil. Olive groves are spread across the region, and the oil is the key ingredient in many dishes. In Tuscany, it’s common to simply dip a piece of bread in olive oil to taste its flavor.

VERNACCIA DI SAN GIMIGNANO WINE

This is one of Tuscany’s most famous white wines, produced in the vineyards around San Gimignano. Its tradition dates back to the Middle Ages, and it is known for its fresh fruit and floral notes, along with a light mineral finish.

CANTUCCI AND VIN SANTO WINE

Cantucci are crunchy, almond-flavored biscuits typically served with Vin Santo, a sweet dessert wine. It’s traditional to dip the biscuits in the wine to soften them and highlight the wine's sweetness.

RIBOLLITA

Ribollita is a famous soup in Tuscany made from vegetables, beans, and stale bread, with no meat. The name Ribollita literally means "boiled again", as it was traditionally reheated the day after it was prepared, allowing the flavors to deepen.
